Amy Betit
Music Director, Organist
Amy Snyder Betit is Music Director of St. George’s Parish, and organist at St. George’s Church, where she was organist and choir director from 2004-08. She has a B.A. in music (piano and composition) from Bennington College and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, Santa Barbara. Until 1980 she was active as a concert composer and conductor, performing in the U.S. and Europe (Holland, England, Austria). She also appeared in concert and recordings as a “sopranino” singer. By 1980 she had written and performed works for orchestra, chamber ensemble and chorus, and received, that year, a National Endowment for the Arts grant to write a cantata for baritone and orchestra, titled “Sunspots and Incense” and premiered at the New Hampshire Music Festival. Amy teaches piano, strings and choir at Eastern Shore’s Own Arts Center in Belle Haven, where she has taught since September of 2012. She also plays violin in the Orchestra of the Eastern Shore.
